Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer Version(s): CONNECT Edition Environment: N/A Area: Datasets and Content Subarea: We currently deliver the following regional datasets with OpenBuildings Designer: Australia (ALI) China (CN) Deutschland (DE) Denmark (DK) Spain (ES) France (FR) Italy (IT) Neutral Metric (NM) - Includes Building Examples and Training WorkSets New Zealand (NZ) Sweden (SE) Singapore (SG) United Kingdom (UK) United States (US) - Includes Building Examples and Training WorkSets United States Metric (USM) From Update 7 we will deliver two additional datasets: Czech Republic (CZ) Russia (RU) Regional datasets are selected during product installation. Datasets can be added or removed using the Modify option via the Windows Apps and Features settings dialog. The default location for OpenBuildings Designer datasets is C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Datasets.

Wiki Page: Configuring the Datasets Root Folder Location

Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer Version(s): CONNECT Edition Environment: N/A Area: Datasets and Content Subarea: Configuration In the configuration scenario where an organization takes ownership of a regional dataset and locates it in a Custom Configuration alongside the Organization and WorkSpaces folders, a small configuration change is required. The path to the Dataset root folder in a Custom Configuration is set as follows (using W:/OBD/Configuration/ as an example location): Update 6 and Earlier On the C:\ drive set the location of a Custom Configuration in the ConfigurationSetup.cfg file, [General] section _USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION = W:/OBD/Configuration/ This will result in _USTN_CONFIGURATION being resolved to W:/OBD/Configuration/ In the root of the Custom Configuration, in this example: W:/OBD/Configuration/, modify WorkSpaceSetup.cfg (this can either be a copy of our delivered file, or simply a new file with that name containing only the required statements. Note do not include a copy of ConfigurationSetup.cfg in this location, it should only exist on the c: drive). Note, this file must be called WorkSpaceSetup.cfg. Unless other statements are appropriate in this file, all that is needed are these two lines: %undef _TF_WORKSPACEROOT _TF_WORKSPACEROOT = $(_USTN_CONFIGURATION) The first line clears the existing definition of _TF_WORKSPACEROOT, the second applies the required definition. Without the %undef statement the application will always use the delivered datasets. Update 7 In Update 7 this behaviour is reversed: Simply defining a Custom Configuration location will make OBD look for the Dataset root in the Custom Configuration (and to be clear, this only applies when a Custom Configuration is defined). In that use case both _TF_WORKSPACEROOT statements can be omitted from WorkSpaceSetup.cfg. To use the delivered Datasets the statements in WorkSpaceSetup.cfg at the root of the Custom Configuration will need to be: # Update 7 and later to use delivered datasets %undef _TF_WORKSPACEROOT _TF_WORKSPACEROOT = $(_USTN_INSTALLED_CONFIGURATION)

Hello Tuan, Can you please share the log file? If you can not share the log file in here then you can raise a SR & attach the log file there. Regards, Alifur

Hi Dominic, Metrostation is the MicroStation example workspace and does not contain any OBD content.

We do not have a concrete I section in our current datasets. However we are about to release OpenBuildings Designer Update 7 which will include new structural modelling capabilities that make it possible for users to create custom structural sections.

Hi Sir Thanks for explanation. may i know when its gonna release any date month etc. Dear Sir any easy way to model below with any dimensions just need technique needed. if its not related to you can you please refer someone expert to demonstrate a method to do that. Best Regards. Muhammad Ismail

Hi, I have modeled the beam with solid tools (extract a solid for the concrete savings ), then I have saved the different beams in a normal cell library and saved them to architectural objects then you can place them with the "place object tool" for those who want some objects like these i've included my cell lib. communities.bentley.com/.../VCA_5F00_GC01.cel if someone have a better solution ( these objects are NOT parametric) please let me know

when you create a dynamic view of pipe of ductwork with insulation on, the insulation is dominant and the pipe or duct is shown hidden i have tried to turn the insulation level to transparent but it doesnt seem to work i also tried to make a display rule, but that also didnt work i am using OBD Connect update 5

In this case it is not a simple extrusion of a profile so my previous comment would not apply. You could model this using parametric solids and constraints. I may have an example for you later.

Marc, what about update 7 it would be nice to have a parametric example for these beams, now I have to remodel every single beam, there are some fixed roles for those beams, can this be modeled to a paz cell? Regards Rik

Hi, the active class is used when placing elements, also for walls, objects .... but there is not a "change element class" for datagroup elements (the "change element" tool does NOT affect datagroup elements. so if the active class is set to construction, the wall is placed in construction now I want to reset it to primary class it would be nice to have this setting in the datagroup definition so when placing datagroup elements the class is set to the desired class maybe an extra setting for the "apply part" tool? regards Rik
