Forum Post: Re: Problems with electrical part of AECOsim Building Designer

This is not only the requirement of Manila wolf. We have asked several times to our local supporters. While we are presenting our modeling to consultant, they are always asking us to go for actual sizes, smooth bends etc…  But if there is raceway customization available that would be better than ask each and every brand include the raceway database.

Can u please show us some sample video as you are says to modify “ raceway.dbf ; raceway.dbt  & raceway.ix*” inorder to add or modify the raceway database.

The fact that it is defined does not necessarily mean that it is in use. Things have changed with the datagroup system.

I think I have found out where the bug is.

In the attached example, I've drawn 2 simple closed wall segments. In the right example, if've done a "Apply Structural Attributes to Slab/Free/Linear Form" in addition.

The one on the left copies without a problem, the one on the right makes Aecosim hang.

Which means that "Apply Structural Attributes" generates invalid Triforma Elements.

Forum Post: Bug during export, merging wrong refs

Here's strange bug I've come over today.

I had multiple problems when trying to export a file to dwg including dynamic views, so I tried to split it up in small steps.

In the attachment, I want to export 4 models to dwg files, both the original dgn and the exported dwg's are included in the zip file. As you can see, during the merge process, AECOSim manages to merge the wrong references into the output files. All three dwg files have one and the same reference merged into them.

Model "Anno Dekke 01" references drawing model "Dekke 01". In the resulting dwg file, it suddenly has merged "Dekke 04".

SR 7000040970 filed.

Problem Description

Once the "Grid" is placed using the "Place Grid" tool how to change the symbology of it after is placedl?

Steps to Resolve

The only way to change the level color of Grid lines is by choosing a different part from the "Drawing Settings" dialog under the "Grid Lines" tab and click the "Browse" icon. If the parts available do not have the color/style that you wish to use, you can always create a new part with the desired symobology.

Forum Post: Re: Joist Tool (ABD 593)

What I’ve discovered is that the new Joist Tool requires the working unit labels to be FT-IN, ‘-“, or MM-MM or else it won’t work.  We have a global deployment for both international foot and survey foot and our seed files thus have labels of IF-II, and SF-SI respectively.

For the Place Railing tool, I have submitted STs on this one before as well as used the communities site, and only now I’ve discovered a direct relationship between the units of resolution and how the tools are depicted.  We have 60000 per foot or 100000 per meter, as opposed to the Bentley-delivered seeds of 304800 per foot and 1000 per millimeter.  When I change the UOR, the components within the Place Railing tool are manipulated, but I can’t seem to get it right in our CH2M HILL seeds when I try to match the Bentley seeds.  Is there something else which effects the behavior of the Place Railing tool?  It would be great if there was a variable which we need to adjust based on some equation relative the selected units of resolution.

I attached an e-mail string as reference with screenshots of what I was toying with.

Forum Post: Re: Referencing Drawing Into a Model - ABD 593

As my suggestion works great for ACAD users also I would suggest simplicity.

Make multiple little model to reference into one dng with nothing but these reference.

then make multiple BV's, then each a single drawing file with that BV.

Keep one drawing per dgn file.

Then Once Sheet  per dgn - no other models or sheets in any of these.

You can look at the Harddrive and KNOW all your drawings without opening anything.

Now Create your sheets - one sheet one sheet model.

Reference your border and any drawings into that sheet.

You have more dgn files this way but organize them into folders and they become more usable for this and OTHER projects.

Yes - but note that this is what a BV or DV is

Whe you set up your section make the depth of that section not as deep.  Right now your depth is deeper that the back or forward wall - Make it a 1/4" deep and you will have a sectiom with only a forward view of 1/4".

We just create a spreadsheet and forget about the tool until a 2 directional live schedule is available.  Every test we've done is it is simplier and quicker.

Create your models and they are nothing but models.

Create a BV / Building Veiw (A smarter DV), DV / Drawings View, or any other Saved View

through the Building View tool or by manual placemnt - Create a Drawing View

this is nothing but a dgn (I like it to be 2d) with reference files

The apply all annotations here.  Never put them in the model.

Forum Post: Re: How to mesure the area and perimeter in Sheet

All Dimensions and annotations are in the Drawing Models NEVER any annotations in the models.

This is where Grammar and verbage is so important for Bentley.

What is a model and then what is a lodel.

A Model can be any 3d object.

A Model can also be a file in a dgn.

So when some are thinking about a model others are thinking about the other model.

Never place anny annotation in your 3d drawings.

Place then in the "Drawing or what we used to call Design Model"  this has a reference of the BV, 3d models ext and annotate here.

Now steve I hve to add this also.  Bentley needs to veiw all materials and make sure they are correct ins scale and resolution.  I have it when I place a brick pattern and then have to spend 20 minutes trying to find the scale.  It is brick after all.  And worse when I open another and it is at a different scale.

All patterns should already be correct for quick placement.

The Section Number are not complete.  they are not linked for each item Section Markers.

Without that - what use are they in comparison to a manual placement?

This question is to make sure somehting is not being done wrong as There are four items than can be linked to something but only 2 are and they need to be more flexible
