Forum Post: RE: Door wall sides

In my mind this is more of a detail question than a graphics or modeling question. 1) You can make the frame deeper by increasing the dimension or setting it to match wall. 2) You can, as you suggested, place another wall 90-degrees to the one the door cuts through. This waqll might be a full wall width, or it might just represent a sheet of 5/8" gypsum drywall applied directly to the brick wall. In this case the wall width would only be 5/8". 3) model the equivalent of drywall right on the brick wall by using the Form Modeling command "Build Wall Assembly." I'm thinking the first two are self explanatory. In the third, set the part to gypsum drywall and apply a 5/8" form to the brick. Then cut away what you don't want by using a shape and the "Cut Solids by Curves" to create a cut feature. Similar to the following illustrations where 5/8" gypsum drywall was applied to a brick wall with a base offset, then a circular opening was cut through the drywall, and final a rectangle was used to cut-back the drywall again.
