Hi Is there any plan about improvimg the workflow to work with Compound Cells in CE? I mean improvements in order to modificate them i an easier way, in order to play with two or three perforators at the same time, some kind of wizard to in order to apply or change the F&P, some kind of wizard to add them in an automatic way to the datagroup , some improvements in the place tools, etc... Lots of thanks Borja

Forum Post: CONNECT Edition - Compound Cells dialog question
Hi Is there any reason because we can not resize the Compound Cell Manager Dialog. It is very annoying. Is there any tip or trick in order to resize it? Lots of thanks Borja

Forum Post: RE: CONNECT Edition - Compound Cells dialog question
Hi Borja, That dialog has not been updated in CONNECT Edition as all of the Compound Cell functions were simply ported forward to CE. I'll find out if we have any plans regarding this particular dialog. I'm assuming that your primary concern is to see the full description and longer lists of cells?

Forum Post: RE: CONNECT Edition - Compound Cells questions
Hi Borja, Having completed the port to the CONNECT platform our efforts are currently focused on developing better tools that provide improved functionality and ease of use, rather than attempting to enhance older technologies. It is too early to say anything more definite about what we can do and when we hope to get there, but I can say that your requirements are understood.

Forum Post: RE: Parametric Content Creation
Hi Borja, There is currently the option to select MicroStation parametric cells as a file type in the DataGroup, I'm looking for more information on what we can currently do with this ability. The parametric capabilities of MicroStation are being improved incrementally as updates are released, so they are worth exploring.

Forum Post: RE: How to copy a curved line from reference file
In the Tool Setting dialog, tick the 'Keep Path' box, this will allow you to use the referenced element. In the case of this tool ticking 'Keep Profile' will retain the profile that you extrude along the path. With other tools, e.g. 'Solid by Extrusion', the 'Keep Profile' option will allow you to extrude from a profile in a reference file.

Wiki Page: What are some differences between the various DGN seed files?
Product(s): AECOsim Building Designer Version(s): 08.11.09.866 Environment: N\A Area: Dataset and Content Subarea: N\A Problem We would like customize seed files to better suit our projects, but when we open the \seed sub-folder within any of the delivered datasets we see there are many files, primarily divided into three categories: 1. We understand that DesignSeed.dgn is the template to create Design Models, so to customize we can change view attributes and other attributes, correct? We also assume that variations such as DesignSeed_Structural.dgn are intended for that specific discipline? 2. DrawingSeed.dgn is the template to create Drawing Models, which can be customized similar to DesignSeed.dgn, correct? If so, is DrawingSeed_DEM.dgn another variation of DrawingSeed.dgn seed that can be used in a similar fashion? 3. SheetSeed.dgn is the template to create Sheet Models, and as with the above can be customized as needed? There are three basic variations; SheetSeed_ANSI.dgn, SheetSeed_ARCH.dgn and SheetSeed_ISO.dgn, which we assume are based on SheetSeed.dgn with respective borders attached and different formats. If the above is accurate, what is Design_and_Sheets_Seed.dgn? We see that it contains different Design and Sheet models but its purpose is not clear. Solution In general, yes, a DesignSeed is simply the "template" used when creating a new DGN file/Model of that type. Each seed file may contain any number of properties or attributes that can be customized as needed. For example, the Structural seed files include a few predefined View Groups with specific levels turned on and off. For DrawingSeeds, the generically named "DrawingSeed" is the template used for Drawing Models and contains a single Model of that type. On the other hand, the _DEM.dgn variations contain a single 3D Model and are used as seed files for Drawing Extraction Manager, the predecessor to Dynamic Views. For SheetSeeds, yes, the plain "SheetSeed.dgn" typically includes Models only for new Sheet Model/File creation, while the ISO and ANSI variations also have borders referenced in by default. Lastly, the "Design_and_Sheets_Seed.dgn" is only included with a few specific datasets as a requirement for those regions. It is a combination of Design and Sheet Models, used as a template for cases where you know in advance that the resulting DGN file requires both Model types within a single container vs. separate DGN files.

Forum Post: RE: ABD Connect failing to publish idgn's and imodels
If you need to verify the imodel published from SS6 is correct you can use Bentley View: https://www.bentley.com/en/products/product-line/modeling-and-visualization-software/bentley-view I did a few tests with some files and so far the publish imodel is working properly on AECOsim Connect Edition, what I can try is test your files in house to see if I get the same results, could you provide me with the sample files ?

Forum Post: RE: CONNECT Edition - Compound Cells dialog question
Lots of thanks for the answer Marc. I think it is the same dialog and the same issue since MS95. It would be great to resize it to see long lists and descriptions. Now in ABD we have to create a lot of Ccells and the name must be short if we don't want make mistakes when we add thme to the datagroup but the description is long. It would be great to resize it. Hi Marc Thanks for the response. I just tried your method, but the software still doesn't allow me to pick the line from the reference file, do you know the reason? Thanks a lot!

Hi Marc Lots of thanks for the answer. I hope too we will have new tools in the next updates but by now we must work with CCells and the workflow is not friendly. Thanks again Borja

Forum Post: RE: Bridge beams and concrete deck
Hi Gilberto, Thank you for suggestions and indicating the AECOsim tools that will help produce the components. I will start to play around with these. It's good to know that it can be done. Although I still believe the most difficult part will be the varying thickness/crossfall and longitudinal fall of the concrete deck slab. Hopefully this part gets better. Thanks Jeff, I had better start building a library of Catalog Types and .cel files of components.

Forum Post: RE: Problem moving structural elements in ABD
Hi Steve! thank you. 1. I used TFREBUILD. After use it, the element appears in the correct place. But when I move it again, the behavior is the same: the axis moves but not the rest of the element. 2. the distance from the point 0,0,0 is 809076.7, 300898.6, 500.0. Units are set in millimeters.

Forum Post: RE: ABD working with Revit
Hi Eric, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We still model in a similar way to you, generate multiple models for different parts of the building or elements, say façade, core, structure or bathrooms etc. Then we reference all into one master model to generate drawings etc. we use this master to export to Revit or export the elements like façade separately. My comment about modeling differently is really to do with the types of elements that are supported by Revit. I like to think about AECOsim as a full package that can do everything from 2d line drawings right through to full parametric models. Key is using the right toolset for the task at hand. Example would be say walls. Rather than extruding solids, we have different parameters available in the place walls toolset (as well as being able to place door into walls!) We have found if we can utilize elements like columns, wall, slabs etc rather than solid modeling type tools the Revit guys are very happy. The models come into Revit via IFC as columns, walls, slabs etc rather than generic models. Let me know if you want any more info. Thanks Wayne
