I do the Annotate for a DG Assembly - "A9" - just as you do - the problem is that in my DV Centerline for that wall does not show so I cannot annotate the wall. Problem One.
We do Wall Tags on the Plans. No isses if the Centerlines will show. (Centerlines for walls should not be on a plan as you physically can never measure to the centerline of a wall.) I need this to toggle on the place a tag then toggle off.
We saw Keynote and ConDoc come and go. I've worked across probably 30 states over 30, years and with firms from 2000 to 1. Engineering and Architecture. And now with the ARMY CORP. And NONE Use a TAG on a 1/2" or larger building section or Detail. If I am using a 1/4" section all Pooched - then I would use a TAG. I TAG Plans.
But for a Wall Section Everyone I've ever worked with ditched the ConDoc, and Detail heavily the first section and then each as changes occur.
The PARTS are great as they will note now the changes we make and should update the Part/Description Tag so those discrepancies go away.
I've spoken to contractors about this - and just called out of curiosity a very large contractor I work with - they don't like the CONDOC approach as - the more complicated the building - the more often the wrong detail gets associated with the wrong un-documented Section.
I guess different flavors - but think also - if our designs are smart - we leverage their graphics with smarts so that they create teh infomraiton (2d) that we need.)
If I just need to draw a MASS SKETCH and then TAG walls and then do details that are not from the model but from 2d details.
Then why even bother with 80% of detail.
I can do this with a singular part "Schematics" ones for each MasterSpec xx xx 00
Tag the walls with that Generic info
Attach Materials
And then IF I estimate within CAD well I'm screwed - because I don't have the time to enter all the data into a dataset that (if MSpec) was used could be imported from my estimation SW.
THIS GOES BACK TO THE FACT THAT WE ARE SO OPEN IN A PROCESS THAT WE HAVE NO SINGULAR COMPLETE PATH FROM SCHEMATIC TO RENDERING TO ESTIMATION.
I HAVE BEEN STUGGLING FOR A VERY LONG TIME TO FIND THAT MOST REASONABLE AND USEFUL APPROACH TO USING THIS PRODUCT. SHEMATICALLY AND FOR PLANS IT IS AWSOME. MY SECTIONS ARE FULLY COMPLETE JUST NEET SMART TAGS FOR ANNOTATION AND ASSOCIATED DIMENSIONING ACROSS REFERENCE FILES. THEN ANY CHANGES ARE RELECTED EVEN WHEN DUPLICATED ACROSS MANY DIFFERENT DETAILS.
