Forum Post: Form width shrunk by Connect Form Base to Plane

Imagine a wall has been placed but its 'base height' needs to be extended down so the wall rises from a slab that has a cross slope. That is an unlikely scenario, but is the easiest way to illustrate a failure in BD to do something that's really useful in other ways. In Modify Form Modify the base height of a Form To Plane, if the Plane is tilted transversely, the Form's base face nicely realigns itself to the Plane, and the Form is projected up from it; BUT in doing so, the base face remains same width. The effect is that the Form is reduced in width, as a projection from the now-tilted base face. This effect does not happen in Modify the base height of a Form To Form or Shape. In some ways these two - To Form or Shape vs To Plane - are useful alternative approaches. I often favour To Plane, as it can both shorten and extend a Form, whereas To Form or Shape can only extend a Form. It's a drag that To Plane has this unintended effect of reducing the Form's width. I can see it might rarely be just what is required, but suggest it should be a tickbox option; the default should be that width is maintained, and if necessary the base face gets wider.
